Animal sterilization offered free of charge to low-income households

The city of Montreal is offering this amazing program.

Two animals per household

An eligible guardian can have a maximum of two animals per household sterilized free of charge. This service includes basic vaccinations and deworming. If the animal is not microchipped, a microchip will be implanted during sterilization at a cost of $15.

Sterilization and microchipping of cats and dogs is mandatory within Montréal city limits.

If you do not hold a permit for your cat or dog, you must get one online, by mail, or in person by going to an Accès Montréal office.

Eligibility criteria

  • Be a resident of Montréal in the previous three months or more.
  • Pay for microchipping during the appointment at the Montréal SPCA.
  • Get or renew the dog or cat permit within five business days of having the animal sterilized.
