Shandy, an unclaimed stray, arrived at Animatch several months ago. However, on arrival we realized that some work had to be done to help this girl become more adoptable. She is in the capable hands of Virginie Forest and the students at FIC (Ecole de Formation des Intervenants canins du Quebec). Over time, the students and caregivers have worked hard through desensitization to get her accustomed to being handled and manipulated. Animatch is on the lookout for a guardian whose goal would be to continue to train and reinforce good behaviour.
Shandy’s ideal family would be an experienced one that understands that many dogs need to have diversion and exercise. The size of your house or yard is far less important to dogs than what happens in it. Shandy needs to feel as though she is working her mind and body; in other words, couch potatoes are not a good match. Animatch, with the help of FIC, promises to get it right for this amazing dog.
Although, Shandy has learned that passing dogs on a walk is not a reason to bark and lunge, she would do wonderfully in a single dog household. She is not a fan of cats, so a feline free home would be perfect. Since we have no history on Shandy, we would prefer an adult home or one where children are over 12.
If Shandy’s adoptive family follows FIC instructions and does some training, they will have all the tools necessary to make this relationship work …. forever. An active lifestyle, patience, and continued training will have her well on my way to becoming the dog of your dreams. Although she has picked up a lot at FIC, that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty more she wants to learn. She certainly has the time to dedicate to learning all you want to teach her if you are game! Sound like a pretty good deal? Shandy is waiting to hear from you, so please fill in the Application
Please note that due the volume of applications, we are unable to respond to all applicants and ONLY those being considered will be contacted. We thank you for your understanding. The adoption application link is posted below and the adoption process is outlined on the website. Animatch asks that you read the Adoptee’s bio in its entirety before applying to ensure you meet the requirements for the dog.
